Take-and-bake grocery store pizzas can vary quite a bit in quality. This one is actually really good! The crust was fairly decent, and the cheese was good, though I certainly wouldn’t consider this amount of pepperoni to be “double” as it was barely enough to get some on each slice. Overall, not a bad choice at all if you want a cheap, fast pizza.
Pieology Pizzeria
This is another one of those build-your-own pizza places that we’ve gotten a ton of here the last few months. This one is decent, but like most of them, is nothing special. I’d put it about half way between Blaze and MOD.
I got the Butcher’s Choice pizza and added green peppers and red onions. The crust left a lot to be desired, but the toppings were fantastic quality. If you’re in the area, it’s not a bad choice.
MOD Pizza
Yet another new pizza restaurant has opened by my house! This one is a lot like Blaze pizza. It’s basically Subway but for pizza, which is a wonderful thing. You can either build your own pizza with whatever toppings, cheese, and sauce you’d like, or pick from one of their “classics.”
I went with their ‘mad dog’ three-meat pizza. It’s delicious. The crust, sauce, cherse, and toppings are all excellent, and the crust in particular is really good. I highly recommend MOD Pizza if there’s one in your area.
Extra Most Bestest Stuffed Crust – Little Caesar’s
There was a time not that long ago, before Hot-N-Ready, when it seemed Little Caesar’s was destined to fail. After Hot-N-Ready, they just didn’t stop. Some of the time this went really poorly, like with their Pretzel Crust, but other times it was incredible, like the Bacon Wrapped Deep Dish (which was probably the best pizza I’ve ever had). This one though… it’s just about perfect. The Extra Most Bestest is already such a great pizza for such a great price that it’s hard to improve on, but adding a bit more cheese in the crust makes all the difference. The price goes up from $6 to $9, but that’s still a great price compared to the competing stuffed crust pizzas.
Papa John’s Pan Crust Pepperoni
I got an ad for a local pizza restaurant that looked a bit disappointing, but it made me hungry for pizza (though what doesn’t), so I decided to try something new from Papa John’s. I’ve never been a huge fan of their pizza, though I don’t really have any complaints about it either. It’s nothing amazing, but it’s pretty good in general. This pan crust pizza is no different. It’s good, simple, quality pizza, but nothing really stands out about it. The cheese sticks are good though.
Freschetta Gluten-Free Pepperoni
It’s been a while since I’ve tried a new frozen pizza, and I was in the mood for something different from my usual choices. While I generally love gluten, I was curious what an incredible brand like Freschetta could pull off with a gluten-free crust. Unsurprisingly, it’s excellent! This is easily the second-best thin-crust pizza I’ve had, only just below California Pizza Kitchen’s incredible Signature Pepperoni pizza.
Like all of Freschetta’s pizzas, the ingredients on this one are very good quality, and have a perfectly balanced taste, with nothing over- or under-done. I really like it. If you’re into the gluten-free thing, this is a great option, and even if you’re not, this is a great pizza regardless.
Pizzeria Seven Twelve
Pizzeria Seven Twelve is a dimly lit pizza restaurant in Orem, Utah. They offer a variety of pizzas, sandwiches, and salads, including a good selection of vegetarian and gluten-free options. Most of that isn’t really my thing, but I’ve been wanting to try their pizza for quite a while now, and I’ve finally gotten around to it.
I tried their Sausage pizza, and overall it was fantastic. The most noticeable thing about their pizzas is the quality of the crust. It’s one of the best tasting crusts I’ve ever had, and the consistency and thickness are perfect. The toppings were really good too, with the combination of the roasted onions and peppers with the quality sausage resulting in an excellent overall flavor. My only real complaints were that my pizza was very slightly overcooked, and there could have been a bit more cheese in a few place, but those don’t stop me from saying this is one of the best pizzas I’ve had. And I’ve had a lot of pizza.
Settebello Pizzeria Napoletana
Settebello in Salt Lake City, Utah offers a more genuine Italian pizza experience than your typical pizzeria. If you like a thin crust brick oven pizza with excellent cheeses, this is a good option. While I certainly prefer a more American-style pizza most of the time, every now and then you need to mix things up a bit. They offer several different options for pizzas, with a lot of vegetarian and vegan options.
The Margherita pizza that I got was pretty decent. The cheese was pretty good, but the crust was a bit too well-done for my taste. Overall not bad, I’d recommend it for anyone into Italian-style pizzas.
Blaze Pizza – Lehi, UT
I tried out a new pizza place today. Blaze Pizza is definitely one of those restaurants that most people go to for silly social reasons rather than actually wanting the food, but it was still a good pizza at a decent price. I went with their Meat Eater pizza on a classic thin crust, which includes mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, meatballs, and red onions. Overall it was pretty good, but I think I’ll try a few more toppings next time since they charge a flat price for any pizza with more than one topping, leaving the extras basically free. While it’s not quite the type of pizza I typically go for (I prefer a cheap delicious pizza over an expensive crap one like most fancy places :P), I’d definitely go again.
Pizza Hut Stuffed Crust Pepperoni and Sausage
The last time I tried to buy a stuffed crust pizza, the Pizza Hut location I was at didn’t offer stuffed crust. I was so disappointed I ended up getting Domino’s instead. I’ve had a lot of pizzas since then, but I’ve really wanted more stuffed crust, so here we are.
This one’s all right. It was made a bit thinner than usual. Pizza Hut does this somewhat frequently, I assume it stems from stretching the crust to double it up on the edges but not having enough dough to begin with. The pepperoni and sausage are a decent combination, though I think I actually prefer plain pepperoni.
